About Me

Despite the fact that I go by the pseudonym "Threnody" on the web, my real name is Jennifer Rebecca Wadkins. I graduated from the University of WA in June of 2002 with a degree in Business Administration and Information Systems. Despite this degree I discovered that I was not really interested in the corporate world. I discovered repaints after coming across the work of Laurie Leigh sometime in 2002. I always looked at her pencil/watercolor art on eBay and eventually followed her art website to Beautiful Faces. In January of 2003 I became inspired to become a repainter myself and have been proud to achieve my goals and help support the household with my art. I couldn't have done it without the guidance and mentorship of all of the wonderful and friendly artists in the repaint community.
I got married on September 6, 2003 to a wonderful man named Dave. Here are some pictures of our wedding and honeymoon.
My favorite things used to be dogs, but then I became a kitty person. Dixie, my baby in the previous picture, died on April 1, 2003 of colon cancer, which was a traumatic time for me - the loss of my first pet. Now we have four cats - Taffy, who is an unbelievably cuddly angel, and Simba and Nala, brother and sister born in June 2003. Finally there is Zoey, a stray that I rescued off of my aunt's front porch, and who has become one of the sweetest and most affectionate kitties around. This picture of Taffy, Simba and Nala is adorable; if only Simba and Nala were still that teeny. My other favorite things in the whole world are dachshunds, most notably Sammy and Skeeter, my parent's dogs who live with my in Phoenix, Arizona.
My hobbies when I am not painting include playing with my cats, video games, reading, board games, dolls, movies, and hanging out with my hubby.
So what's up with this "Threnody" thing?
Once upon a time (circa 1993), in a land far, far away (Federal Way, WA) I was twelve years old. At my request (along with pestering, whining and annoying) my parents signed up for something special called "Prodigy Classic." And within Prodigy Classic, I discovered a wonderful thing - chat! I was "Threnody" and I had a whole array of little national buddies. For some reason the nickname stuck, and now, a decade later, I still use the moniker for a variety of things, including my email address.
